PREFACE
Vocational training in the field of engineering encounters new problems resulting from the transfer of the economy system in Poland, in particular - industry and agriculture. This refers mainly to engineers and masters in engineering - graduates from Lublin Technical University who find their jobs in the central eastern region of Poland. Frequently, the requirements established by employers exceed their employees' specialisation. That is why engineers at all levels must be well prepared to solve problems outside their specialisation and to present their work results, professionally. This is particularly important in the case of highest rank specialists i.e.: designers of complex systems, devices and processes far exceeding one field of technology.
This manual has been elaborated in the result of a pilot group activity performed by students from the last academic year within a full time Master's course who were preparing themselves to start vocational practice within the initial period of employment in different enterprises in the region. The continuation of this work is the fact that this manual will be used by students at the interdisciplinary course : cooling processes and heat pumps, which becomes one of the results of Leonardo da Vinci project No 09112/99.
